Sri Lanka is an island near India, where many talented runners barely get opportunities to race. It is obvious that racing help runners improve their competitiveness. Sri Lankan fans mainly focus on cricket, since the island won the world cup. Now that the tsunami disaster happened in Sri Lanka, even less devotion has been placed on insuring the availability of races for long distance runners. The Sri Lankan Runners Fund has been set up to promote more opportunities for the running community.
             Kennet De Silva is originally from Sri Lanka, now living in San Francisco.  He's a longtime member of the DSE Running Club and enjoys the many great races available in the Bay Area and throughout the US.  He also has seen the struggle of Sri Lankan runners first hand and has made it his goal to pass on his experiences in the Bay Area to the runners of the island nation.
